Remains exhumed from a grave in County Monaghan are being subjected to DNA testing to determine whether they include those of Joe Lynskey.
The former monk turned IRA man was abducted, murdered and secretly buried by the republican group in 1972.
Lynskey is understood to have tricked a fellow IRA man into shooting a love rival – also a member of the IRA.
The IRA ‘court martial’ sentenced him to death, a fate he seemed to accept it – never trying to escape.
Who was Joe Lynskey, why did he become one of the ‘disappeared’ and what led investigators to an unrelated family plot in Monaghan over fifty years since his disappearance?
The Belfast Telegraph’s security correspondent Allison Morris joins Ciarán Dunbar.
