Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has been inundated with supportive messages after announcing a move to a different BBC show. Amy, 34, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
The BBC star went on to undergo a mastectomy and gruelling chemotherapy treatment before ringing the bell, the signal the end of her treatment, last November. Then, a health check in February 2024 revealed that there was “no sign of disease”.
Amy bravely documented her cancer journey on social media, in a bid to raise awareness and to let other sufferers know they were not alone. She returned to Strictly for the 2024 series back in September, but unfortunately was forced to pull out of the competition after breaking a bone in her foot.
In happier news, Amy has now shared a new Instagram update with her many fans. The dancer told her followers she’s returning to the Beeb, though in a completely different role.
Amy said: “Well I think this is going to be a fun watch. Coming to BBC One and iPlayer this Christmas”. The post was accompanied by a photo of Amy wearing an apron, in the BBC Masterchef studio.
Fans have been quick to comment on the update, as one said: “Way to go Amy, you’ve got this girl”. A second said: “Never watch Masterchef but I’ll be watching this. Go on Amy”. A third said: “Good luck. Have fun in the kitchen”.
