The family of TV doctor Michael Mosley are facing a new wait for answers into the star’s death. Dr Mosley vanished in scorching temperatures during a break in Greece in June this year.

He had spent the day with his wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley and friends at Agios Nikolaos beach on the island of Symi on June 5. However he vanished after going for a walk.

His disappearance sparked a major sea and land search for him with emergency services as well as locals joining in. Tragically his body was found four days later in a rocky area near the Agia Marina in Symi where he had been staying.

His wife confirmed the news on June 9 that her husband’s body had been found. She said the dad-of-four seemed to have embarked on an “incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen” by the search teams.

Initially the Greek authorities said he had died of natural causes. However the Buckinghamshire coroner in the UK is yet to hold an inquest into the death.

At the time Konstantia Dimoglidou, a spokesperson for the Greek police, said there were no injuries found on his body that could have led to his death. The preliminary post-mortem examination showed the doctor was thought to have died around 4pm on the day he went missing.

This was just a few hours after he is understood to have left the beach which was said to have been at around 1.30pm. Temperatures had reportedly been around 40C in the area at the time.

Buckinghamshire Coroner’s office previously said an inquest, which will determine details around the death, would be held on November 14 at 2pm. The purpose of the inquest is to find out who the deceased person was and how, when and where they died.

However this has now been moved to January 16 at 12.40pm. A notification on the Buckinghamshire Coroner’s website says: “Michael Hugh Mosley. Died 5 June 2024 in Greece. Home address, Beaconsfield. Aged 67 years.”

Dr Mosley was known for his expertise in diet and weight loss. He helped thousands of people lose weight through his television broadcasts, podcast and diet plan books. He had a range of diets to his name including The Fast 800, 5:2, The Way of Life and The Fast 800 Keto.
