Talks are under way for Katie Taylor’s trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano and promoter Eddie Hearn wants to stage the contest at Croke Park.

Hearn believes a third fight between Taylor and Serrano would be one of the biggest fights in boxing history, after their second bout earlier generated huge interest and a record breaking television audience on Netflix.

Taylor beat Serrano in an epic content as they shared top billing on a card that also featured the contentious Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight.

Now Hearn is eyeing up the chance to cash in on the demand for another Taylor vs Serrano clash and he wants to bring it to Dublin.

Hearn tried and failed to strike a deal for Taylor to live out her dream and stage a fight in Croke Park in recent years, but he hopes the hype around a potential match against Serrano could finally open the doors to GAA headquarters.

Security costs were cited as an issue for blocking Taylor’s hopes of fighting at Croke Park, but Hearn is ready to try and make it happen again.

“I think a third fight with Amanda, given the viewership on Netflix and the success of the first fight, would result in not just the biggest female fight of all time but one of the biggest fights of all time,” said Hearn.

“I don’t want to get too excited over it (Croke Park), because we’ve been there before, but if we’re ever going to do it, it would be on the back of a fight and viewership like their second fight. It could kick Croke Park over the line.”

Hearn floated the prospect of returning to the negotiating table with Croke Park chief last week, as he suggested the Irish government may consider being part of the promotion.

“Let’s look at Croke Park. Let’s go back to the Irish government and say “well, what about now?”’ said Matchroom promoter, Hearn.

“People get confused when we ask for help, they say “why should the government give money to Matchroom?”

“It is not about giving the money, it is about being in line with all the other economics of going to a major stadium. If Croke Park cost the same to us as Wembley Stadium, we would have already done it.

“The gate at Madison Square Garden was $1.5 million upwards (Taylor vs Serrano’s first fight in 2022), but this gate now could do $7, $8, $10 million. All of a sudden, Netflix and DAZN are going to be major bidders for this fight. The revenue that could be generated from a third fight is a serious number.”
