York Regional Police said on Sept. 5 around 3 a.m., they were called to a residence in the area of The Bridle Walk and Castlemore Ave. for a report of a home invasion.
Police alleged that three suspects forced their way into the home, armed with a hammer, while demanding the homeowner’s vehicle keys.
Cops said there were four adults and two children in the home at the time of the incident but there were no injuries.
It’s further alleged a fourth suspect, believed to be the driver, remained in the suspect vehicle, described as a dark, four-door sedan, and two suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle while the remaining two suspects fled in the suspect vehicle.
On Tuesday, investigators executed three search warrants at Toronto residences and three stolen vehicles were recovered while a fourth suspect remains outstanding.
Tremaine Anthony Clarke, 32, who was out on two separate release orders for unrelated charges, has been charged with eight counts of fail to comply with release order, two counts each of robbery and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count each of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and disguise with intent.
Omar Ghumman, 22, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Khowaja Seddiqi, 22, who has been linked to a previous home invasion that occurred in October in Richmond Hill, has been charged with two counts each of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Investigators believe the three men may be involved in other similar incidents.
“I am proud of the hard work and dedication our investigators continue to display in solving these violent crimes,” said York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween in a news release.
“One of the three offenders was out on bail for prior offences. Our officers and our communities expect a bail system that ensures their safety, by weighing the risks a repeat offender may pose to the community. This is the expectation that is required to ensure confidence in the administration of justice.”
