A new bar located in the Sailortown area of Belfast and named after a pioneering Northern Ireland female footballer has confirmed they will open later this week.
Seatons of Sailortown – the name a nod to footballer Molly Seaton – was formerly McKenna’s bar in the area close to the city’s docks.
They had previously confirmed refurbishment work had been ongoing and have now confirmed the bar will open its doors to customers from 5pm this Friday.
In a post on social media, the bar said the news was “what you’ve been waiting for”.
“Seatons will open to the public 5pm on Friday 29th November….we can’t wait to welcome you to Sailortown’s newest pub,” they added.
The bar was refurbished and rebranded from the old McKenna’s by publican Kelvin Collins, who is also behind Ben Madigan’s Bar & Kitchen on the Cavehill Road in north Belfast.
Molly Seaton – who inspired the name – hailed from the north of the city played for a series of teams, including men’s sides, in the 20s and 30s, as well as captaining Ireland’s women’s team.

Images from inside the bar revealed in August showed the ground floor includes a kitchen, banquettes, an extended bar area, along with snugs, booths and a traditional fireplace — with a traditional vibe bringing in modern design influences.
There will also be an upstairs area with seating and booths, along with a bar.
In a post on the bar’s Facebook page, they shared an image of the bespoke fireplace customers will be able to enjoy a pint beside.
