Sixteen of 17 cats named after Taylor Swift music at the Toronto Humane Society have found loving homes.
This campaign was launched to coincide with Swift’s Toronto Eras Tour stops from Nov. 14-16 and Nov. 21-23 at Rogers Centre.
The Toronto Humane Society even played Swift’s music throughout the adoption halls.
“We are so thankful to everyone who opened their hearts and homes to the ‘Swiftie’ cats,” said Melissa Shupak, director of animal sheltering at Toronto Humane Society. “Your compassion has not only given these cats a second chance but also brought a powerful sense of community to our shelter.
“For those who want to make an even bigger difference, another way to help is by donating this Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3),” Shupak added in a news release. “With the generous support of Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets and Supplements, donations will be matched up to $10,000 — doubling the impact of every dollar donated to help animals in need.”
The lone remaining Taylor-named inspired cat, Swiftie, is still looking for her Forever Home and is bonded with her buddy, Cat Benetar, so both would have to be adopted together.
In addition to inspiring adoptions, the Toronto Humane Society also extended an open invitation to Swift herself for a behind-the-scenes tour to meet these feline superfans.
While she was unable to attend during this campaign, the invitation remains open for a future visit.
“We’re grateful for Taylor’s music and her influence, which brought an incredible sense of excitement to our shelter,” Shupak said.
