Monty Don, the host of Gardener’s World, has apologised to fans after cancelling a series of talks due to an unexpected hospital visit. The 69 year old broadcaster was scheduled to give talks in Exeter, Truro, Bath, and Nottingham over the weekend when he fell ill and was rushed to A&E.
On Tuesday (November 26), Monty took to Instagram to explain his absence to his 1.3 million followers. In the video, he can be seen at home with his beloved dog Ned.
He said: “Hello. I am so sorry to have disappointed all those people who were going to come and see me in Exeter and Truro and Bath and Nottingham.
“But on Friday afternoon I was rushed to A and E. I was kept in at the hospital over Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and had to have drips and all the rest of it.”
While he didn’t disclose why he was hospitalised, he reassured fans that he is recovering and hopes to be back to full health by next week. He added: “But I came home last night, and I’m feeling much better. I’m going to spend the next few days quietly recuperating here at home and hopefully by the weekend I’ll be back to full fitness.”, reports the Express.
Fans were quick to send him their best wishes. One user wrote in the comments: “Monty Don very much hope you’re soon fully recovered. Warmest wishes from me and Gerard.”
Another agreed: “Sending so much love and best wishes to you Monty. Feel better quickly please” as a third echoed: “Bless you, you’re a national treasure. Never apologise and look after yourself with your wonderful furbaby [heart emoji].”
A fourth echoed: “Sending you so much healing love your way. There’s only one you and you’re a bit of a national treasure so be kind to yourself and take the time you need to heal [heart emoji].”
