A long diversion affecting North Somerset and the edge of Bristol will be in effect from today (Monday, November 25) until Friday as repair work is undertaken. The road closure is on the main road through Barrow Gurney.
The B3130 (Barrow Street) between School Lane and an unnamed road northwest of the bed and breakfast Coombs J H, will be closed whilst the work is undertaken by North Somerset Council. One.Network lists the roadworks as for “highway repair and maintenance works”.
The five day closure means that traffic will be unable to pass from one side of Barrow Gurney to another. A diversion will be in place during the works which incorporates the edge of South Bristol.
Starting north of the closure, drivers will need to follow the B3130 towards Flax Bourton and join the A370, driving east towards Bristol. Vehicles will drive onto the A4174 (on the outskirts of Bristol) to the Lime Kiln roundabout and use the A38 heading west.
Drivers will follow the A38 through Barrow Common and between the Barrow Reservoirs and join the B3130, just off Bridgwater Road. Then drivers can enter Barrow Gurney.
The diversion is 12 kilometres, or just under eight miles, in length and is expected to take drivers around 13 minutes to complete.
