Davina McCall has shared a health update in the first video posted since she underwent an operation to remove a brain tumour. The TV presenter, known for Big Brother and a host of other shows, said the tumour was discovered by chance, at a health check she thought she was going to “ace”.
Davina told her many social media followers she would be undergoing surgery to remove the benign tumour and would then face a period of recovery. And she asked followers to pray for her and promised boyfriend Michael Douglas would update them on her progress saying she would be “off grid for a while”.
In a new video shared on Monday morning, November 25, Davina shared a “heartfelt thank you to everybody who has messaged me, or been in touch.” She then explained how she was feeling and what her next steps will be.
She said: “I’m on the other side. My short term memory’s a bit, um, remiss. But that is something I can work on so I’m really happy about that. I’m writing down everything I’m doing, to keep myself feeling safe. I’m resting, I’m on the mend.”
Captioning the post, she said: “Hey!!! … thank you . For the messages . It’s meant the world . Just want to thank @mdlondon , who gets best boyfriend ever award . Voted for by me and everyone that knows us . Also … best mum ever award … goes to @gabbamccall . Thank you mumma.
“For being best grandma … and mumma ever . I am feeling much better . Had a great nights sleep in my own bed . Have a couple of sleeps during the day which keeps my brain clear … slowly slowly… huge gratitude, and love for the world and my life and the beautiful people in it.
