Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “experimenting” with a professional separation, according to a royal commentator.

The couple have embarked on a separation of their professional lives and have pivoted to solo public appearances rather than joint engagements over the last few months.

This week, the Duke of Sussex attended Invictus events in Vancouver on his own, with Meghan’s absence from engagements linked to the sporting competition unusual.

The Duchess of Sussex has accompanied Prince Harry to Invictus Games events since 2017 onwards and joined her husband in Vancouver in February 2024 for a previous promotional event.

The couple stepped out at Invictus events in February across several days in Canada in what was seen as a preview of the first-ever winter edition of the sporting competition.

As well as attending the earlier preview event in Canada, Meghan has joined Harry at the Invictus Games in The Netherlands and Germany in recent years.

She is expected to accompany Harry in February at the Vancouver games, with the couple reportedly weighing up bringing their son Prince Archie with them.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively told GBNews.com that Harry’s solo engagements are part of the Sussexes building a new strategy for their brand.

Ftizwilliams said: “This is obviously a new tactic. As in every brand the Sussexes want to promote their brand as best as they can.

“They have tried something that has worked with the so-called royal tours of Nigeria and Colombia.

“Then we have got the solo engagements, so they are experimenting.

“The Sussexes need to keep their profile as they can’t attack the Royal Family at the moment, so now they have to think up new devices.”

He added: “There is no question that when it comes to Invictus and the personal touch, this does work, it definitely works with Harry.

“Clearly, they are finding that going solo works well at the moment.

“It depends on what their aim is, Harry has got his POLO series coming out soon.”

The official trailer for the Netflix series was released on Thursday ahead of the five-episode documentary dropping on the streaming platform on December 10.
