The EYHL’s top two go head-to-head as Lisnagarvey host Three Rock Rovers at Comber Road on Saturday afternoon.

Going into the weekend, the sides are separated by just two points with third-placed Banbridge a further three points back but with a game in hand of their title rivals.

Erroll Lutton’s side bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a narrow victory over YMCA.

Playing a large role in the victory, Ben Nelson continued his blistering start to the campaign as he netted his ninth and tenth goals of the campaign, four more than anyone else in his side.

They now face an unbeaten Three Rock Rovers side who top the division with a near-perfect record, only dropping points in a recent 3-3 draw with Banbridge.

The table-toppers also have one of the division’s leading goal scorers amongst their ranks with Ben Johnson scoring nine goals this campaign and has only failed to net in one game this season.

Banbridge will be looking to capitalise on at least one of their title rivals dropping points as they host Corinthians.

The Ulster club are one of two sides yet to lose this campaign and come into the weekend having won their last two fixtures against Pembroke Wanderers and Lisnagarvey.

A hat-trick from Jonny McKee and two goals from Matthew McKee sealed a convincing 5-1 win in Dublin last time out and kept the side within touching distance of the top two.

Meanwhile, a similar win this weekend could potentially see Scott McCandless’ side finish the weekend in second place.

The final EYHL game of the weekend sees Annadale travel to Dublin to face Monkstown where a win could move them out of the relegation zone.

In the Men’s Premier League, leaders Cookstown travel to take on an in-form Portadown at Edenvilla.

The hosts suffered a heavy opening-day defeat at the hands of Queen’s University but are unbeaten since and have climbed to fourth in the division.

Their recent run has been largely helped by the individual form of Ryan Bennett who has netted a joint league high of six goals this season and has scored in each of his sides last four outings.

However, if they are to keep up their recent success they will have to overcome a Cookstown side who are yet to lose this season.

Last weekend the reigning champions made it back-to-back wins as they beat last season’s runners-up Kilkeel.

The 3-2 win was sealed with goals from brothers Michael and Daniel Kerr as well as a penalty corner from Jack Haycock.
