Manchester City are preparing to offer striker Erling Haaland a staggering £100million package to secure his long-term future at the Etihad Stadium, reports say.

The Premier League champions are stepping up their efforts to convince the Norwegian superstar to follow manager Pep Guardiola’s commitment to the club, with the Spaniard recently agreeing a one-year extension with the option of a further year.

Haaland, who has already netted an impressive 105 goals for City, has been linked with a potential move to Barcelona.

City’s hierarchy are keen to tie down their prolific goalscorer, who currently has two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing contract.

Haaland’s current deal sees him earn £375,000 per week before bonuses, amounting to more than £20 million per season.

The proposed extension would keep the striker at City for an additional four to five years, potentially earning him £100 million in basic wages alone, according to The Sun.

The package would not include additional performance-related bonuses, which could significantly increase the total value.

The Norwegian’s importance to the club has been evident since his arrival in 2022, with his goalscoring prowess making him a key figure in City’s plans.

Speaking recently while on international duty with Norway, Haaland expressed his desire for Guardiola to extend his stay at the club.

“I hope Pep signs a new contract. He has been important for me in the first two-and-a-half years,” said the striker.

“I hope he stays longer. I like Pep a lot and hope he likes me, too,” Haaland added, highlighting the strong relationship between the pair.

The forward’s comments came amid discussions about his own future at the club, with City hoping Guardiola’s commitment will help secure Haaland’s signature on a new deal.

Guardiola has agreed in principle to a new 12-month contract with an option to extend until summer 2027.

The Catalan manager’s new deal, worth approximately £20 million per season, notably contains no release clauses related to City’s ongoing Premier League investigation.

The club currently faces 115 charges for alleged breaches of financial rules, with a verdict expected in spring. They continue to deny any wrongdoing.

Even if City were to face relegation as a consequence of these charges, Guardiola has committed to staying with the club.

The manager has expressed his dedication to the project, even joking about playing club legends Paul Dickov and Mike Summerbee if necessary.

Haaland will be hoping to start when City lock horns with Tottenham on Saturday (5.30pm).

They will go into that match hoping to end their recent bad run, having lost their last four matches across all competitions.
