Pep Guardiola has extended his contract with Manchester City until 2026, with the new deal reportedly excluding any break clause related to potential relegation from the Premier League.

According to reports, the outcome of the charges against City will not have any impact on Guardiola’s new deal.

City are currently defending themselves against 115 charges of breaking Premier League financial rules, brought before an independent commission.

The club strongly denies all allegations of financial wrongdoing.

If found guilty, one potential sanction facing the reigning champions is demotion from the Premier League.

The severity of any verdict would determine the extent of punishment, with relegation representing one of the most serious possible outcomes.

The charges are currently being reviewed by an independent commission, with City maintaining their innocence throughout the process.

Guardiola has been unequivocal about his commitment to Manchester City, regardless of their league status.

“I will wait. Wait and see it, and after the sentence has been done we will come here and explain it,” the City manager said when questioned about his future previously

He added emphatically: “Absolutely I will not consider my future if it depends on being here [Premier League] or being in League One.”

In a striking statement of loyalty, Guardiola declared: “There is more chance to stay if we are in League One than if we were in the Champions League.”

The manager has reportedly assured his players he would remain with the club regardless of the outcome.
