A pickleball game in Mexico turned violent after a player from the losing team kicked a winning opponent.

Shocking video from Sunday’s tournament in Mexico shows the final point of a doubles match.

Peter Shonk shared the clip with social media account The Kitchen Pickleball, which shows his and partner Sylvain Bouchard’s victory in the men’s advance section of the Quintana Roo International at the Pickleball Club Playa Del Carmen.

Shonk, wearing a Mexican national team soccer jersey cheered as they won, shouting, “Come on! Let’s go!” before approaching the net with his partner to shake hands with their opponents.

He yelled out a final, “F***, yeah!” before shaking one of the players’ hands and accidentally knocks the other player’s racquet to the ground.

Shonk is seen bending over to pick up the racquet and his angry competitor wearing pink shorts thanked him by delivering a kick to the jubulant winner’s face.

As Shonk lay on the ground, his partner ran over to the kicker to confront him, as officials and bystanders tried to break them up.

Meanwhile, two people are seen tending to Shonk while his attacker’s partner looked on.

“It occurred after championship point from a tournament this weekend and the man that was assaulted, Peter Shonk, shared this video with us to post and wants everyone to know that he is ok,” the Kitchen Pickleball’s X account noted.

“This behaviour is disgusting and completely unacceptable,” the account added.

“It’s just pickleball.”

X users had a lot to say, with some believing that Shonk should press charges and his attacker should be charged with assault.

However, many called Shonk the “instigator” and Pete “had it coming.”
