The stepson of the future king of Norway has been arrested on suspicion of rape, the police have confirmed. He denied the allegation, according to local media.
Marius Borg Høiby is the 27-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, the wife of Crown Prince Haakon, the heir apparent to the Norwegian throne.
Borg Høiby was arrested by Norwegian police on Monday at an address near Skaugum, the royal estate where Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit reside, and remains in police custody.
In a statement, police said that Borg Høiby was arrested on Monday evening on suspicion of violating the criminal code “which concerns sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act.”

Earlier this month, after eight police interviews, Borg Høiby issued a statement strenuously denying that he assaulted two of his former girlfriends, Nora Haukland and Juliane Snekkestad.
