It’s been ten minutes since the last one, so Jeep feels it is time for another Wrangler special edition. On this occasion, the brand is using a four-door 4xe to shout out the original 1941 Willys MB machine used in combat — and it has a too-cool set of retro-style wheels which might be worth the cash all on their own.
Called the Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41, this trim uses the brand’s hybrid powertrain, comprised of a 2.0L turbocharged gas engine, two electric motors, and a 17-kWh battery pack. In the right conditions, it can travel up to 35 kilometres without using any gasoline. This tag team is good for 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Numerous cues on this special edition are inspired not just by the model from 1941 but also the Jeep ’41 Concept shown at the Easter Jeep Safari a couple of years ago. Atop the list, at least for this off-road gearhead, are those wheels, which look for all the world like old-school military steelies but are actually modern aluminum wheels painted in an olive drab colour and wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires.
Those decals on the Jeep’s hood – WILLYS / 4XE – are done in a period-correct drab blue, a nod to the OG stenciling mandated by the army on Willys MBs during the Second World War. Similar touches dot the cabin, such as tan cloth seats and an olive-drab fabric dashboard insert. There is also a special shifter medallion which totally won’t get prised off by idle knife-wielding skeets when you pop into the shops after parking your new Jeep with its doors and roof removed. Maybe that’s just our neighbourhood.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler Willys ’41 4xe special edition starts at a Canadian MSRP of $69,995, which works out to $72,290 inclusive of most fees. Orders are open alongside other models in the 2025 Jeep Wrangler lineup, and these specials will be in dealer showrooms before Santa slides down the chimney.
