Taking the Hyundai Elantra N to another level of performance is a new TCR Edition, unveiled this weekend and taking numerous aerodynamic inspirations from the brand’s successful touring car efforts. The most obvious upgrade, of course, is That Wing, standing tall and adjustable to provide optimal down-force settings for various driving conditions or preferences. Wheels are trim-specific and described as lightweight 19-inchers. Rounding out the functional upgrades are four-pot brakes with N Performance branding.

There isn’t any extra power, though the stock N is hardly down on grunt. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0L capable of making entertaining noises, in addition to a steady 276 horsepower. We say “steady” because 286 ponies can be briefly summoned by mashing a boost button. All that power is funnelled through the front wheels by a six-speed stick or eight-speed automatic.

Hyundai has given the interior a smattering of unique touches, including seatbelt webbing in the Hyundai N signature light blue, called Performance Blue. That’s a detail we haven’t seen in a spell. There is also a Performance Blue strip at the Alcantara-clad steering wheel’s 12 o’clock position, along with a gunshot of TCR Edition badging about the cabin.

“Hyundai Motor has incorporated the experience and expertise accumulated in motorsports into Elantra N TCR Edition,” said Joon Park, Vice President of N Brand Management Group. “We will continue to enhance the DNA of Hyundai N, so that N-thusiasts can experience the thrill of motorsports in their daily lives.”

Presently, a 2025 Elantra N trades for $39,899 plus fees, five hundred bucks more than last year and representing approximately an eight-grand jump over the N-Line. Will the N TCR command a similar premium? We won’t have long to wait and find out. Hyundai Motor plans to launch the new model in South Korea this December, and expand the roll-out to global markets next year.
