Jamie Borthwick’s mum Sharon has caused quite a stir with BBC Strictly viewers thanks to her reaction to her son’s feedback on Saturday evening.
Bringing this year’s Blackpool Week to a close, Borthwick and his pro partner Michelle Tsiakkis took on a chip-inspired Jive to The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) by Las Ketchup.
Making it a memorable routine from the get-go, Borthwick descended onto the dancefloor while straddling a giant ketchup bottle.
Following the energetic performance, Borthwick and Tsiakkis soon joined Tess Daly to see what the judges made of the performance, with Motsi Mabuse the first one up to deliver her feedback.
“Jamie, I’ve never seen anybody wanting to dance so much as you coming down on that thing,” Mabuse said while gesturing at the giant bottle.
“You were like, ‘Get me off!’ And then I could feel that energy that you held back, you put it into your dancing.

“You push all the way, you gave it absolutely everything. Your standing leg – just a little bit, just a tiny bit – it didn’t give you that kind of vibration that you need so that you can absorb the music.
“So you have a sort absorbsation on your ankle that we didn’t have,” she added but ended on a high note.
Mabuse concluded: “But besides that, I thought that was really just a fantastic way to end the show tonight.”
The Blackpool crowd erupted into applause as the camera shot to the front row where Borthwick’s mum and dad happened to be sitting.
Before host Tess Daly could get Shirley Ballas’s feedback, the camera stayed on Borthwick’s mum who’d turned turned to the person sat to her right.
Seemingly unimpressed with the criticism of her son’s performance from Mabuse, Borthwick’s mum could be seen rolling her eyes at the remarks.
No one in the BBC studio appeared to notice the fuming response but it didn’t go unnoticed by several viewers watching at home.
“Omg who was that iconic woman eye rolling then? #Strictly,” one fan commented on X, before a second similarly questioned: “Anyone else catch that woman’s eye roll? #Strictly.”
“Major eye roll! #Strictly #Audience,” a third commented while a fourth pointed out: “Jamie’s mum not amused.”
“#Strictly Did you see Jamie’s mom giving Motsi the side eye during her comments…” a fifth also queried before a sixth saw the funny side of the interaction: “Jamie’s mum eye roll after hearing his criticism lol #Strictly.” (sic)

Following her criticism, Mabuse gave Borthwick a score of eight, as did Craig Revel Horwood and Ballas.
Anton Du Beke was more favourable, however, awarding the soap star a score of nine, giving him a grand total of 33 and placing him sixth on the leaderboard ahead of Wynne Evans and Pete Wicks.
Mabuse wasn’t the only judge to spark debate among BBC viewers at home following their critique.
Craig Revel Horwood was slammed for his “petty” comments towards Chris McCausland after he and Dianne Buswell opened Blackpool Week.
