The message was short, sweet and sharp.
After weighing in for their big fight, Mike Tyson stepped up to Jake Paul and slapped the YouTube star in the face.
“Talk is over,” Tyson said before making a quick exit off stage.
An understandably fired-up Paul responded, claiming that he “didn’t even feel it.”
He then offered a few threats for Friday’s fight.
“It’s personal now,” Paul said. “He’s going to die.”
Both Tyson and Paul easily made weight for their hotly anticipated heavyweight bout set for Friday night.
During Thursday’s weigh-in, Tyson tipped the scales at 228.4 pounds while Paul posted a solid 227.4..
For a man who is 58 years old and hasn’t fought in years, Tyson looked to be in remarkable shape, while Paul was no slouch either
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano both made weight for their undisputed super lightweight world title fight, with both combatants tipping the scales at 137.4 pounds.
Fighting at heavyweight is a new experience for Paul. The former ‘Problem Child’ who now goes by ‘El Gallo’ had previously fought at cruiserweight, which has an upper limit of 200 pounds. With seven career knockouts already, adding a little more weight and the power that comes with it certainly won’t hurt the younger combatant.
Paul also boasted about the benefits of CELSIUS Energy Drinks, which is a primary sponsor of the big event and available at retailers in Canada.
During Tyson’s preparation for the fight, the legend abandoned his vegetarian lifestyle in order to pack on some additional strength. He also said that he abstained from both sex and cannabis during the lead up to his big return.
However, Iron Mike did keep one vice in his regimen: Magic mushrooms. The former champ said that he used Psilocybin mushrooms to help him focus on his training.
Both combatants for the WBC welterweight world title made weight with champion Mario Barrios at 146.8 pounds and Abel Ramos at 146.4.
Neeraj Goyat weighed in at 162 pounds while Brazil’s Whindersson Nunes was two pounds heavier at 164 pounds. The Brazilian also got a little assist on stage from a UFC legend with countryman Anderson Silva stepping in as his translator.
Both Canadians made weight for their undercard fights, though one of their opponents didn’t.
Lucas ‘King’ Bahdi weighed in at 134.6 pounds for his fight with vs. Armando Casamonica, who missed weight at 138.6 pounds, more than three pounds over the lightweight limit. Casamonica had taken the fight on short notice, stepping in for an injured Corey Marksman.
“Unprofessional,” Bahdi said when asked his thoughts about his opponent missing weight.
Pefferlaw, Ont.’s Melinda Watpool weighed in at 166.8 pounds for her bout against Shadasia Green, who had a slight advantage at 167.8 pounds, with the vacant super middleweight title on the line.
