Self-proclaimed “power lesbian” Corey Burke told cops she butchered her housebound dad as an “act of liberation” and was determined to set “boundaries … about his emotions.”
The 33-year-old manager for gazillionaire Jeff Bezos’ rocket start-up Blue Origin was arrested and charged with first-degree murder last week in the Seattle suburb of Rainier Valley.
Cops say neighbours reported a disturbance when Burke allegedly began smashing the windows of the $850,000 home she shared with her ailing 67-year-old father, Timothy Burke.
One neighbour told officers they texted Burke to see if she was alright. She replied: “You need to just do it.”
When officers arrived they heard clapping coming from the home. Burke emerged soaked in blood, hands raised and frantic, the Daily Mail reported. She told cops she was happy “so she started clapping.”
The suspect is reportedly married to transgender author Samantha Leigh Allen but claimed she was dating a man named Ben Dijkstra. She added she hadn’t seen him in four years.
Allen is an editor at Conde Nast’s transgender news website Them.
Neighbours told detectives they were concerned about Burke’s father who was battling myriad illnesses.
Inside the home, cops discovered a slaughterhouse. Timothy Burke was covered in blood and suffered multiple lacerations to his back, head and ears. He also had a bite mark on his back.
Some of the lacerations were two inches deep on his rib cage and his body was covered in bruises. Officers recovered an ice pick axe from the scene.
At the hospital, homicide detectives asked Burke who the president was. She replied: “Well now the president is going to be Donald Trump.”
She also told detectives trouble started when her dad refused to turn off lights in the home they shared and she “just freaked out.” Burke added she may have “acted too soon.”
The “Power Lesbian” added that strangling Dad was not easy but she felt better when his body went limp. In the big picture, she said she wanted people to “change their attachment to their parents” and that she had been “reborn” on her birthday last month.
“Corey did not seem fit to take care of herself, and that she was a danger to property and herself,” one investigator wrote.
Burke is being held on $2-million bail and is back in court on Nov. 21.
