Former Bristol Rovers defender and member of the League Two promotion squad Josh Grant has finally found a new club, six months on from it being announed that he would be released by the Gas.

The 26-year-old has linked up with another Matt Taylor at National League outfit Wealdstone with the Stones currently 22nd in the fifth tier and trying to climb up the table.

Grant was one of nine players released at the end of last season, having made 36 appearances for the Gas across all competitions over the course of the campaign and a total of 102 over four seasons.

Although he had the odd injury concern, the versatile defender’s availability was much improved on the season before in which he played just 10 minutes of the entire term.

Also being part of the League Two promotion season as well as having previous spells at Plymouth Argyle and Yeovil Town, Grant will bring valuable experience to Wealdstone as they look to survive in the National League.

On his signing, Stones boss Taylor said: “Josh is an extremely talented footballer who was a League One player this time last season – we are very lucky to have secured his signature.”
