Northern Ireland’s crucial Nations League encounter against Belarus at Windsor Park on Friday night will be screened live on Viaplay’s YouTube channel.
It is expected the same broadcast arrangements will be in place for the final match of the campaign when Michael O’Neill’s side are away to Luxembourg next Monday.
Viaplay covered Northern Ireland’s previous two Nations League matches in October on their YouTube channel – the scoreless draw versus Belarus in Hungary and the stunning 5-0 victory over Bulgaria in Belfast.
For those fixtures former international Stephen Craigan provided analysis with local broadcasters Barry Greene and Michael Clarke splitting the commentary duties.
Whether that will be the case for the November double header remains to be seen.
Swedish company Viaplay agreed a contract with UEFA in 2022 to televise Northern Ireland’s Nations League, Euro Qualifiers and World Cup Qualifiers live until 2028.
However, the subscription service has since axed their linear television channels and dropped out of the UK market.
In September, Viaplay struck a late subletting deal with ITV that allowed Northern Ireland’s home game with Luxembourg and trip to Bulgaria to be broadcast on television.
Both ITV and BBC tried to strike a similar deal for October’s two games, but were unable to come to a last-minute agreement. As such, Viaplay broadcast both games last month.
Friday’s match against Belarus is the last international at home for O’Neill’s side in 2024 and they want to leave Windsor on a high knowing victory will put them in a strong position to top their Nations League group.
As revealed in Sunday Life Sport earlier this year BBC NI are keen to have the rights to show Northern Ireland games live again and will make a play for next year’s World Cup qualifiers.
