Plans for a new housing development on the outskirts of Tewkesbury have been given the green light. Tewkesbury Borough Council has granted Barratt David Wilson Homes South West consent for a 102-home scheme at ‘Fiddington Fields’ in Ashchurch.
The proposals include a mix of private and social housing including three-, four- and five-bedroom properties all of which will have access to electric car charging.
The development is part of a consortium site which is a five-minute drive from J9 of the M5. It will be located near Barratt Homes Bristol’s 460-home development of the same name and is set within 26 acres of open land north of Milnes Covert.
As part of the plans, Barratt Homes Bristol and Barratt David Wilson Homes South West have agreed to pay £430,000 towards libraries, a new primary school and community building, and play areas including sports pitches. The overall development will also include allotments.
The housebuilder has also pledged to boost local biodiversity by installing bat boxes, bird boxes and ‘hedgehog highways’ within the development. Native trees, hedgerows, and wildflower areas will also be planted throughout the site.
Louise Ware, sales director, said: “We’re eager to start on-site and provide much-needed, high-quality homes in the area. This scheme will be yet another fine example of how we balance development with environmental considerations, reflecting our commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable communities.”
Barratt David Wilson Homes South West expects to release for the first homes for sale in spring 2025 with first occupations next summer.
