Aldi has launched a range of Christmas cards supporting Teenage Cancer Trust. Now available in stores nationwide, the cards have been created by Teenage Cancer Trust patients after the supermarket hosted a competition for both those supported by the charity and its staff.
The winning designs, created by Izzy Fletcher, 24, who lives in Bishops Waltham, Southampton, and Hex Coles, 28, who lives in Ladybarn, Manchester, will see 50p go to Teenage Cancer Trust for every pack sold. Hex, diagnosed with aplastic anaemia in 2019, stood out for the judges with their Christmas present design. Meanwhile, Izzy, diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2023, impressed the judging panel with her town on a starry Christmas Eve design.
Liz Fox, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK, said: “We loved seeing all the creative entries in this year’s Christmas card design competition and I enjoyed reviewing every single one. Hex and Izzy’s magical designs will no doubt be popular with our customers, and we encourage everyone to pick up a pack to help us support Teenage Cancer Trust this holiday season.”
Ellie Rocks, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Our partnership with Aldi means so much to us, and their support over the years has been invaluable. This year’s competition is another great example of how they get their customers involved in raising funds too, and we can’t wait to see Hex and Izzy’s designs on display in stores.”
Aldi has partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust since 2017, raising more than £10 million through various fundraising efforts. The supermarket is on track to meet its goal of raising £15 million by 2027. Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”. They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need.
