The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after a police officer in Hamilton was injured Saturday when he was confronted by a man with a firearm.
According to a social media update from Hamilton Police, the officer was responding to a 911 call when he was injured.
Police say the officer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
However, the man was also transported to hospital, but in life-threatening condition.
Police say the SIU has been notified of the incident and has invoked its mandate to probe the circumstances of the injuries.
No further details were released by police.
The SIU has yet to comment about the incident.
