A senior citizen suffered minor injuries after she was assaulted and robbed in Brantford on Thursday morning.
Brantford Police said a senior was walking across a pedestrian bridge near Brant’s Crossing at about 8:30 a.m. when she was approached by a woman.
The woman, using force and with her face concealed, robbed the senior of her purse and shoes, then allegedly threw the victim’s walker into the Grand River, said police.
The BPS Better Enforcement Action Team arrived at the scene and located a suspect, who it’s alleged was found to be in violation of four probation orders and provided false names to officers.
A 39-year-old Brantford woman has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, robbery, possession of stolen goods under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, obstruct peace officer, disguise with intent, and four counts of probation order – non-compliance.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.
