Prince Harry has been tipped to travel to the UK for Christmas, with a royal commentator claiming that he wants to “visit the UK more”.

Daily Mail Editor at Large Charlotte Griffiths believes Prince Harry will make his trips to the UK more frequent, with a festive trip potentially in the offing – but without his wife Meghan Markle.

Speaking to GB News, Griffiths said: “I do think Harry is going to come over to the UK more and more.

“I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he came over at Christmas, but he will be coming on his own.

Prince Harry has reportedly not been invited to spend Christmas in Balmoral

“I think there’s no way Meghan will come over. It might be that they spend Christmas in Portugal and he nips over to see the family.

“I don’t think he’s usually invited to Balmoral. They don’t feel they can relax when he’s at Balmoral with them, so I don’t think he’ll pop up there.”

Harry and Meghan have only celebrated Christmas with the royal family twice as a couple – first in 2017 when they were engaged, and again in 2018 after their wedding.

Their last Christmas with the royal family was in 2019, which they spent privately on Vancouver Island just before stepping down as senior royals in early 2020.

Since then, the couple has established their life in California, where they now reside with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

According to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, the children are “probably absolutely intrigued to know what their cousins are like. They wouldn’t remember them.”

The Sussexes have reportedly received an invitation from Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer, to celebrate Christmas at Althorp House in Northamptonshire.

This alternative arrangement could provide a middle ground, though it would mean missing the royal family festivities at Sandringham.

Royal commentator Emily Andrews told Woman magazine: “It’s a tricky time for Harry — he hasn’t spent Christmas here for six years and he could be forgiven for feeling rather lonely and estranged from his Windsor relatives.”

Security concerns remain a major hurdle for any potential UK visit by the Duke of Sussex and his family.

Harry is currently engaged in a legal battle with the Home Office over a February 2020 decision that removed his automatic right to police protection while in Britain.

The Duke has previously stated: “The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home.

“That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.”
