Emma Raducanu is on track to make her return from injury at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals next week, according to her team.

The 21-year-old was making her comeback from a long injury lay-off earlier this year and she began to find some momentum during the grasscourt season.

She looked close to her best at Wimbledon as she reached the fourth round, but she’s played in just three tournaments since the British Grand Slam.

Raducanu was hopeful of ending the season on a high during the Asian swing, but she picked up a foot injury in the quarter-finals of the Korea Open.

The British No 2 subsequently pulled out of back-to-back WTA 1000 events in Beijing and Wuhan before skipping tournaments in Ningbo, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Her absence from the latter tournament raised further doubts on Raducanu’s involvement in this month’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals with Great Britain.

The 2021 US Open played a pivotal role in helping her country qualify for the finals with comeback wins over Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry back in April

And Raducanu’s team have suggested she will be there in Malaga next week as Britain prepare to face Germany on November 16.

They told the Daily Mail: “Emma is training well and being with the team next week is her focus.”

Great Britain captain Anne Keothavong named her squad for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in September before Raducanu’s injury setback.

British No 1 Katie Boulter was selected along with Raducanu Harriet Dart, Heather Watson and Olivia Nicholls.

But speaking at the time of her squad announcement, Keothavong admitted that there could still be some changes made.

“We are really looking forward to the finals in Malaga after qualifying following our fantastic weekend in France in April,” Keothavong said in September.

“Our team have created excellent memories and put in outstanding performances in this competition in recent years, and we will relish the opportunity in November.

“There is still a lot of tennis to be played, and changes can be made up until the day before our first match.”

Great Britain will be seen as one of the favourites to win the Billie Jean King Cup Finals with three of their squad members being ranked inside the top 100.

Boulter has also reached a new career-high ranking of 23rd in the world following her run to the Hong Kong Open final.

But the United States squad are seen as the team to beat, led by world No 10 Danielle Collins.

They also have doubles specialists Taylor Townsend and Caroline Dolehide in their squad.
