A string of Dyson and Shark owners are swapping their extensive vacuums for a more affordable option they say works just as well, if not better. Amazon shoppers have been snapping up a highly-rated Vax Mach Air Upright Vacuum Cleaner, which just so happens to currently be on sale for £20 off. The vacuum is on offer now for £69, down from £89.99, in a limited-time deal.
The Vax Mach Air is a lightweight, multi-cyclonic vacuum. It has a 1.5L bin capacity, enabling you to clean for longer with less frequent emptying. It also comes with a 2-in-1 dusting brush/crevice tool. It’s ideal for cleaning carpets and hardfloors. It weighs 4.9kg. The Vax device has more than 10,00 customer reviews, and more than 2,000 of them have been bought on Amazon in the past month.
One customer rated it five stars, writing: “Believe it or not, but I rate this vacuum better than my old Shark one. I have a black labrador and this vacuum has amazing suction. Feels like a quality built vacuum, it’s lightweight, so easy to take up and down and vacuum the stairs. Great value for money, and in my opinion, has more power, better suction and is more durable than some of it’s high-end competitors.”

A second also gave it a five-star rating, adding: “Just as good as Dyson and Shark but less than half the price.” A third said: “I tried other leading brands (Shark and Dyson) and this surpassed both in performance. It sucks so much better than the others. the price is such a bargain too.”
A previous Dyson owner remarked: “I’ve had two Dyson, and got fed up of buying new parts, so I thought I’d give Vax a try. I’m so glad I did. The bristles on my new Vax makes Dyson’s look like eyelashes. Vax has brought my carpets back to life, and the cost of the Vax was only the price of a new part for a Dyson. Trust me, most expensive is not always better.”
A fifth pleased customer noted: “This is the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had. Suction is very powerful, so does a super job of sucking up all the dirt and even pet hairs off the floor.”
Not all shoppers were pleased. One customer gave it a lowly one star review, writing: “I’m not impressed. Hair keeps getting stuck on the brushes and it stops rotating and sucking. I had to spend a lot of time cutting my hair, and it’s bad as I’m allergic to dust and dust mites. This vacuum makes me ill. It’s also heavy so no good if you have arthritis, elderly with a heart problem like me.”
Another happy shopper said: “Got this in March this year, and it has stopped working. Doesn’t suck up anything, and the spin on it has gone as well, for only having 6 months and this has happened.”
Alternatively, Shark and Dyson have recently launched Black Friday deals. Dyson has reduced the price of its V15 Detect Absolute cordless vacuum to £499.99 from £649.99 – a considerable reduction of £150. The device has powerful suction, dust detection technology, and fully sealed filtration. It is perfect for hard floors and carpets and has an hour of run time, so you can fully deep clean your floors around the entire house without having to recharge it.
Shark has a reduction on its Stratos Pet Pro Anti Hair Wrap Plus Anti-Odour XL Upright Vacuum, now £249.99, down from £399.99 – a saving of £150. The technology allows you to removes long, short and pet hair from the brush-roll as you clean. While the Anti-Odour Technology protects against bad odours inside the vacuum.
