Prince William looked dapper as he arrived onto the green carpet for first ever Earthshot Prize awards in Africa.

The Prince of Wales arrived in a grey suit jacket over a light blue shirt, paired with white trainers.


The prince’s attendance at the fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony is the centrepiece of his trip to Cape Town.

During the event, the five winners of the 2024 prizes will be unveiled and awarded £1 million.

The ceremony aims to provide a moment of celebration, highlighting the impact achieved by past winners and finalists as well as sparking the imaginations of young people around the world who could be future Earthshot Prize Winners.

Earlier today, Prince William met with the 15 finalists of the 2024 Earthshot Prize at the world-famous Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.

William had the opportunity to speak with all finalists, learning about their experiences with the Earthshot Prize Fellowship Programme and their outlook ahead of this evening’s ceremony.

The Prince of Wales will join innovators, policy makers and internationally renowned talent to celebrate the 2024 cohort of global finalists before the winners of the five categories are announced.

With the awards ceremony taking place on the Africa for the first time, it will feature incredible talent from across the continent including awardwinning TV presenter Bonang Matheba and actress Nomzamo Mbatha.

The award ceremony is streaming on YouTube and across 50 African countries through the Multichoice network.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson described the award ceremony as the Prince of Wales’s “Super Bowl” moment.

The finalists represent a diverse range of environmental solutions across five categories.

These include: Protect and Restore Nature, Revive our Oceans, Clean our Air, Build a Waste Free World, and Fix our Climate.
