Prince William has met with the 15 finalists of the 2024 Earthshot Prize at the world-famous Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.
The engagement came just hours before the Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony this evening and took place at the foot of Table Mountain.
His Royal Highness had the opportunity to speak with all finalists, learning about their experiences with the Earthshot Prize Fellowship Programme and their outlook ahead of this evening’s ceremony.
Upon arrival, the prince was greeted by Werner Voigt, Garden Director, and Hannah Jones, CEO of The Earthshot Prize.

The Earthshot Fellowship Programme is a key element of the support provided to each cohort of fifteen finalists.
It offers a yearlong programme of mentorship, resources, and technical support to accelerate the growth of groundbreaking environmental solutions.
The programme kicked off with an annual retreat held the week before the awards ceremony.
This initiative provides finalists with access to a robust network of global businesses, philanthropists, investors, and environmental organisations committed to climate action.

Through this comprehensive support system, the Earthshot Prize aims to nurture and scale innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
The finalists represent a diverse range of environmental solutions across five categories.
These include: Protect and Restore Nature, Revive our Oceans, Clean our Air, Build a Waste Free World, and Fix our Climate.
Notable finalists include Vera Voronova and Mark Day from Altyn Dala, and Uyunkar Domingo Peas Nampichkai from Amazon Sacred Headwaters in the Nature category.
