A new wine bar is opening on Baldwin Street this week in a popular Bristol Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. Marmo will be opening its brand new wine bar on Friday, November 8.
In a post to Instagram, the Marmo team shared a series of images of the new space, and said: “There is light… at the bottom of the stairs! Marmo Wine Bar opening this Friday, 8 November! The bar is an intimate and informal space, open on Friday & Saturday evenings — no reservations, just pop in!
“We will be serving a regularly changing bar menu, the first of which will include: puntarelle alla romana, smoked cod’s roe and crisps and taleggio toasties. We will be pouring an eclectic selection of wines by the glass, spontaneously selected from the cellar each night.
“Come for an apéro before your reservation upstairs, stay for a night cap afterwards or settle in for the evening.”
The Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in the heart of Bristol, which is also dog friendly, already serves up a concise menu “guided by seasonal and locally sourced ingredients” and its wine list “showcases European producers who farm their vineyards organically or biodynamically and who use minimal or no chemical intervention in the winery”.
Marmo opened back in August 2019 in the former home of Bar Buvette and has been run by husband and wife team Cosmo and Lily Sterck, who previously worked in a number of well-known London establishments. Its name means ‘marble’ in Italian.
