Two people have been arrested after a man was shot in the arm during an incident in Co Tyrone last month.
Police investigating the reported shooting in Coalisland on October 30 made the arrests in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Detective Inspector Ryan said: “In the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 5th November, observant officers carrying out enquiries in the town noted a number of people behaving unusually.
“A 34-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing ammunition in suspicious circumstances.
“They both remain in custody at this time.”
It comes after the victim – a man in his 40s – had attended hospital following the incident, which was then reported to the police.
“He stated that while sitting in a vehicle, he was approached by two men who he believed to be local to the area. A suspected firearm was put through the window of his vehicle and he was shot to his arm,” said a PSNI spokesperson at the time.
“It’s appalling that anyone should be attacked in this way, especially in the early evening when the area would have been busy with shoppers and commuters.
“There is no place in our society for this type of vigilante justice and we are fortunate that the outcome was not much more serious.”
Police said their enquiries remained ongoing following the arrests.
“We would continue appeal for anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1369 of 30/10/24,” they said.
