SARNIA – One man is facing a huge list of charges throughout Southwestern Ontario including eight separate cases in Sarnia featuring multiple counts of disguise with intent.
David Drake was arrested on Oct. 23 in Chatham-Kent after being wanted on a slew of outstanding warrants in that area, Sarnia and Windsor. He has 22 sets of outstanding charges before Ontario’s courts in total including eight in Sarnia, 10 in Chatham-Kent, and four in Windsor, records show. All but one of the cases are related to incidents that occurred in 2024.
In Sarnia, all of his charges have been accumulated since April. They include eight counts of theft with a value of less $5,000 and three counts of disguise with intent.
“Since April of 2024, David Drake is alleged to have committed eight distinct shoplifting offences,” Sarnia police said via email. “Stolen items include $4,000 in power tools and $400 in alcohol.”
A virtual bail hearing started Friday in Sarnia, where Drake appeared by video from the South West Detention Centre near Windsor, but it didn’t finish and his charges were adjourned to Tuesday. Following another brief video appearance on Tuesday morning from the same jail, his cases were adjourned again. He is now scheduled to be back in Sarnia court on Friday.
Drake was due back in Windsor court on Wednesday and in Chatham court on Friday.
A new warrant has also been issued for Drake in London.
The various charges in all the cities have not yet been tested in court.
