Billionaire and lifelong Democrat Mark Pincus has announced he is voting for Donald Trump today’s US election.

The video game developer, who previously donated £1million to President Biden’s re-election campaign, declared his support for the Republican nominee on social media.

“I am voting for Trump,” Pincus wrote.

“I have been a lifelong Dem, supporting the past four presidential campaigns at $1m each… This past year I have seen too much.”

Pincus cited concerns about US-Israel relations, rising antisemitism, and threats to free speech as key factors in his decision.

Expanding on his concerns, Pincus emphasised Israel’s importance as a US ally.

He argued: “Israel is America’s most loyal ally and the only Democracy in the Middle East.

“It is fighting Iran on seven fronts and yet it can no longer trust the US,” he argued.”

The tech entrepreneur, who is Jewish, expressed alarm over “exploding antisemitism nationwide”.

Mark Pincus, 58, founded Zynga in 2007, naming it after his dog Zinga. The software development company gained fame with the launch of FarmVille two years later.

Earlier this year, Pincus was among a group of Democratic megadonors who suggested Biden should withdraw from the race. He told the Financial Times he preferred an open convention to select the party’s nominee.

However, after Biden’s withdrawal, prominent Democrats quickly rallied around Vice President Kamala Harris.

Pincus acknowledged that his vote in California, a heavily Democratic state, would likely have little impact on the election outcome. However, he felt compelled to make his position known.

“I know America will continue to be great under the Dems or Trump,” Pincus stated.

“And yet I think America and Israel will be stronger under Trump.”
