A Bristol entrepreneur who started her beauty business from her spare room is opening her first store. Lucy Pearce set up House of Amor in 2017 selling at-home eyelash extensions after struggling to find time for salon visits.

The mum-of-three’s breakthrough came in 2021 when she invested £1,000 in a product called QuickLashes – a range of DIY lash extension kits allowing individuals to achieve salon-worthy results from home.

The initial launch was a huge success, with the brand generating £21,000 worth of sales within the first six minutes. The products are now sold by major retailers including Superdrug, Debenhams and Justmylook.

After finding success with a pop-up shop, vending machines and a click-and-collect service, House of Amor has now invested £23,000 in bricks-and-mortar store in Winford. According to Ms Pearce, the luxury retail outlet will deliver an “immersive in-person shopping experience”.

The store will be a “one-stop shop” for people to experience the brand’s ethos and products first-hand as well as engage directly with the team, according to the firm. It will sell its range of lashes, lash bonds, nail products and cosmetics.

“This is a major milestone for us as a brand and one I have always dreamt of,” said Ms Pearce. “Our new flagship isn’t just about selling products, it’s about creating a space where our customers can fully immerse themselves in the House of Amor experience. We want this to be a destination, a place where people from Bristol and beyond can discover beauty in a way that’s both personal and unforgettable.

“We’ve always believed in creating beauty experiences that go beyond products, and this space is a testament to that. Our goal is to foster a community where customers can truly understand our brand, try our products, and walk away feeling confident and inspired.”

The store will feature the complete House of Amor collections, but will also collaborate with other TikTok trending brands to include a ‘What’s Trending?’ display – from limited-edition launches to cult-favourite products.

The shop is hosting an opening evening on Wednesday, November 6, at Cattlemarket Business Park on Chew Road in Winford. Tickets to the event can be purchased on Eventbrite.
