Angela Jones is hoping to make the big transition from porn to politics.
Jones, 42, is a Democrat running to capture a seat in Michigan’s 37th District in the southwestern corner of the state on Lake Michigan.
But recently, the progressive aspiring pol has been hammered with some unwanted attention. Prior to throwing her hat in the ring, she was an amateur porn star on OnlyFans.
She told Barstool Sports that her sexxx-rated past was old news.
“You’re just now finding this out? I’ve been public about it for two years,” she said in an email to the website.
“Pretty sure everyone already knows about it and they don’t care. Why don’t you use your platform to do actual good for the community instead of just attacking people. I wish you well.”
Jones — who went by AngiMonique in her porn life — has been a prominent local political figure on the Michigan coast, espousing a wide array of progressive positions.
She supports LGBTQ+ protections, workers’ rights, agricultural protections and fair access to healthcare. Previously, she ran a small photo studio in St. Joseph that specialized in wedding photography.
Progressive groups such as We the People – Michigan, Michigan AFL-CIO, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and the American Federation of Teachers – Michigan have endorsed Jones.
But those lofty ideals took on an earthier hue on her OnlyFans page where she charged people to view videos and images of the neophyte politician having sex, masturbating and posing nude.
She is married and has four children and is a lifelong resident of southwestern Michigan.
So far, the Democrats are standing behind Johns while Republican rivals claim her hormone-charged hijinks show a lack of professionalism. The Dems say Jones’ campaign has attracted a “certain audience”.
But she has said she’s putting her porno past behind her.
On her campaign website, Jones lays out some of her beliefs.
“I’ve been a small business owner since I began my photography business in 2009 in what is arguably one of the most heavily saturated industries in the world,” she wrote.
“I turned my business into a successful career focusing on people [literally] and helping them overcome self-confidence issues. I created a thriving multi-six-figure career and supported my family, a testament to my hard work ethic and ability to get things done.”
She added: “I found passion in my work until the current economic disaster hit and ripped the rug out from under me. I’m now watching my friends and their businesses close around me, hearing the anger and hurt in their voices. I feel that same fear of what happens when we can’t pay our bills. I feel frustrated at the skyrocketing cost of living. And I know what it feels like not to be heard.”
That’s a message we can all get behind.
