A missing Bristol man, who became the focus of a significant search operation after not returning from a boating excursion in Fishguard, has been found “safe and well”. Chris Ellery’s daughter, Kenzie, expressed her relief on social media as she said her father was found in Ireland.

The 54-year-old triggered concerns when he failed to come back from a trip at sea. Chris had last been seen on Wednesday (October 30) at 2pm, with CCTV footage showing him leaving Fishguard harbour on an inflatable craft.

With no sign of Chris by Thursday afternoon as expected, his family raised alarm on Friday, leading to urgent appeals from Dyfed-Powys Police for information. However, the force confirmed on Saturday afternoon that Mr Ellery has now been found.

Their statement said: “Chris, reported missing in the Fishguard area, has been found safe and well. Thank you to all who shared the appeal.”

Coastguards from Milford Haven disclosed to the BBC that Chris had attempted to cross the Irish Sea but broke down without communications. However, he managed to reach the coast of County Wicklow and proceeded to local law enforcement, reports Wales Online.

Gardai (Irish police) confirmed to Milford Haven coastguards that Chris was indeed safe and well. Sharing the good news on Facebook, Kenzie Ellery posted: “My dad is alive he has been found in Ireland”.
