A pub in Bristol city centre serves the city’s best Sunday roast, according to our readers. A couple of weeks ago, we asked you where you can get Bristol’s best Sunday roast.
Having received more than a hundred votes, we then announced the shortlist with the top five that got the most mentions. And, after more than 700 votes being cast, The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer on King Street is the clear winner after receiving 310 votes.
The city centre pub serves “The Volley Triple”, with topside beef, pork belly and lamb (£19), for those who want to try a variety of meats. It also serves beef, pork belly, lamb shoulder and a vegan option (£15 to £17).

These are all served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, seasonal greens, celeriac puree, roasted seasonal roots and gravy. The pub also offers sides such as cauliflower cheese (£5) or extra roast potatoes (£3); it is even possible to get an extra Yorkshire pudding (£1) or extra gravy (£1.5).
The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer also offers a range of desserts to finish off a Sunday roast, including a fruit crumble (£6), sticky toffee pudding (£6) and a cheeseboard (£10).
In second place came Bianchis on York Road. The Italian restaurant – which got 228 votes – offers its own Italian twist of a roast, including aubergine parmigiana and pomodoro or beef rump with salsa verde.

While most renown for its steaks, Pasture on Portwall Lane in Redcliffe has also made it to the top five after getting 45 votes.
