Research has discovered that adults are likely to spend over £62,000 on dining out during their lifetime, with steak or a traditional roast being the preferred meals.
A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that despite many attempting to reduce their spending habits, individuals still spend an average of £84 per month on food outside the home.
Although, 46 per cent are looking to cut costs on dining out, three quarters believe that a meal out with friends or family is money well spent.

The research, commissioned by Compare the Market, found, 44 per cent confessed they would dine out with their family daily if given the opportunity.
Spokesperson Kristin Sonfield commented: “Food brings us together – but the cost of meals out definitely adds up […] thinking about how you could save money at the same time is a smart idea.”
Among those who believe that dining out with loved ones is worth the expense, 60 per cent attribute it to the memories they create, while 52 per cent view it as an ideal opportunity for bonding.
Furthermore, a significant 58 per cent of respondents identified going out for a meal as their preferred method of spending quality time with loved ones, surpassing catching up at home (36 per cent) or going for a walk (34 per cent).
Kristin Sonfield commented: “Eating out allows everyone to relax, bond, and share stories without the hassle of cooking and cleaning up. Meals with family or friends at restaurants provide a change of scenery and a chance to try new cuisines, enhancing both our culinary and cultural experiences.
“Parents could find restaurants a great place to introduce their children to new food, given the variety of options which cater to different tastes.”
