Naughty Nanny Juliana Peres Magalhaes appears poised to turn the screws on her paramour.
The 24-year-old Brazilian au pair pleaded guilty to manslaughter late Tuesday for her role in the BDSM slaying of her boyfriend’s wife.
Magalhaes was the caregiver for the young daughter of Christine Banfield, 37, and Brendan Banfield, 39, at their mansion in suburban Washington, D.C.
The young au pair soon became embroiled in a torrid sexual affair with Brendan Banfield, a high-flying IRS investigator, right under his wife’s nose.
“Earlier today, Juliana Peres Magalhaes pled guilty to manslaughter for shooting and killing Joseph Ryan on the morning of Feb. 24, 2023. Today’s agreement marks a significant step forward in this case, and it is an important development in our pursuit of justice for the victims and their families,” Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano said.
“Much of the information that led to this agreement cannot be made public at this time, due to the upcoming criminal trial against the other defendant in this matter.”
Magalhaes was first eyed as the lone killer in the grisly double slaying of Christine Banfield and Joseph Nathan Ryan but homicide detectives held back and let the affair unfold.
Ryan was allegedly lured to the mansion under the auspices of BDSM sex with Christine. Cops say the nanny and Brendan Banfield planned to make the scene look like a kinky tryst gone off the rails.
But as the months wore on, the newsome twosome became careless, openly cavorting with one another. Newly-framed photos of the two alleged conspirators, found in Banfield’s bedroom after the killings, show hubby and au pair sharing an embrace, the nanny’s head resting on the IRS special agent’s shoulder.
Both are smiling.
In September, Brendan Banfield was indicted on four counts of aggravated murder and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The pair claimed Ryan had stabbed to death Christine Banfield and that Brendan shot him dead in mid-attack. Cops now believe Ryan was a patsy and was lured by Christine’s bogus profile on a sex fetish dating site.
Detectives theorize he arrived at the mansion and got into what he believed was his role.
“There was no forced entry whatsoever,” cops told reporters on the day of the murders. “This was not a home invasion. Here’s what I can say right now with certainty: He did not force entry into the home. I do not know exactly what the nature of his presence in the home is all about just yet, but we’re working hard to determine that.”
Investigators later found the bogus messages between Ryan and a woman believed to be the nanny posing as Christine.
When Brendan, Magalhaes and the daughter returned to the house that day, they found Ryan with a naked Christine who had been stabbed repeatedly in the neck. Brendan then shot Ryan with his service weapon.
The au pair allegedly grabbed another gun from the safe and parked a bullet in Ryan’s chest. Magalhaes denied any sexual relationship with Brandon at the time.
As part of the au pair’s deal with prosecutors, she has agreed to cooperate in the case against Brendan Banfield. Prosecutors said in court they plan to recommend a light sentence for the young woman.
Magalhaes will be sentenced after Brendan Banfield’s trial, slated for Feb. 3, 2025.
