Ontario-based Inkas Armored just rolled out its take on the new Ram 1500, transforming it into the bro-dozer of bro-dozers. With military-grade protection wrapped in the looks of a standard pickup truck, it’s the ultimate in go-anywhere survive-anything mobility. The truck – it’s not the armoured vehicle manufacturer’s first – is designed to appear nearly identical to a regular Ram 1500 while providing extensive protection for drivers needing a more covert armoured-vehicle option.
At first glance, the truck’s design, from the exterior panels to the tires, gives away nothing about its fortified structure. But beneath its ordinary exterior, the Ram is equipped with multi-layered ballistic glass; armoured floors and rear bulkhead; and polycarbonate inserts within the tires, forming a run-flat system, reports Carscoops.
Key structural components like the fuel tank, battery, and ECM (engine control module) are fully enclosed in armour. These elements make the Inkas Armored Ram 1500 capable of withstanding rifle fire and even grenade blasts, offering complete 360-degree ballistic protection.
Under the hood, the Inkas Ram 1500 runs on a turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 420 horsepower and distributing it to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Inkas goes beyond conventional armour standards by ensuring the vehicle remains inconspicuous. While most armoured trucks are at least a little visually distinct, making them more than obvious in traffic, the Inkas Ram 1500’s design maintains a subtle, civilian appearance. Even the heavy-duty wheels and front and rear reinforced bumpers look stock. For those desiring further customization, Inkas offers options such as a roof escape hatch; an oxygen filtration system; and functional bulletproof windows.
The Inkas Armored Ram 1500 is priced at approximately US$120,000 (about CDN$167,000) with the cost increasing based on specific options configurations – it’s a little more if you go for the High Output SST, for example – as well as additional equipment requests.
