James May’s globetrotting adventures on Amazon Prime have come to an end as his travel series has now been cancelled. Known for co-presenting Top Gear and The Grand Tour with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, James recently embarked on a solo journey with his series, James May: Our Man In….
The programme, which premiered in 2020 on Amazon Prime, saw the 61-year-old delve into the culture of various countries by participating in a range of local and tourist activities. However, after episodes in Japan, Italy, and India, James has confirmed that his captivating travelogues have been discontinued by Amazon Prime.
In a chat withYahoo UK!, James expressed his relief at not having to be away from home for long periods, something he’s less keen on these days: “Well, Our Man In… is actually finished, they don’t want any more of that, so I won’t be doing that. But that does take you away from home for a long time, which I wasn’t so keen on these days anyway.”
When asked why his travel series was axed, James aded: “Well, they just didn’t want it anymore, miserable b*****ds.” James faced a significant hurdle while filming for his new Channel 5 series, The Great Explorers With James May, after a cycling accident left him injured, reports the Mirror.
The presenter was involved in a mishap during a charity bike ride near Hammersmith Bridge in London, resulting in a ‘bust’ wrist and causing disruption to several scenes of the production.
The 61-year-old previously expressed his annoyance following an incident which disrupted the filming schedule. Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, in May he said: “I’m taking part in a charity bicycle ride today, with the Armonico Consort and me old mate Oz Clarke (OBE). But I’m going in the car, because I bust my wrist in a bicycle accident.”
Speaking with The Telegraph, James has since reflected on the recovery process. He said: “At my age, this sort of thing takes much longer to heal…I woke up one day and the one thing I never thought would happen had happened: I felt old. It’s partly my hair; my baggy face.”
