STRIKING OUT
Re “Stark comparison” (Rob Longley, Oct. 28): It’s very simple. The brain trust you would expect — starting at the top and working their way down to the coaches and players on the field — need to show the fans of Toronto (stadium attendees and flat screen TV viewers alike) that there’s a reason to support a losing proposition as far as the once very exciting team is concerned. This team that just shamefully finished last in such a distinguished and hallowed division we were once contenders in. Bums in the seats 2024 numbers appeared near the top, so bully for the corporation’s revenue side, while a disaster remained for the perennial Blue Jays supporters. And nothing to lead us to believe anything’s been built back better. In relative prima facie terms, Rogers has no more right to own an MLB team than Shapiro and Atkins have administrating one, for nine uneventful, if not disappointing, seasons.

CAN’T SEE THE FOREST
I’m having difficulty understanding what motivates our Liberal federal government these days. Since it appears that close to 70% of Canadians and a third of the Liberal caucus don’t want Trudeau to lead the party in the next election, what could possibly be his reasoning for staying the course? Could it be arrogance as in, forgive them, for they know not what they need, or a refusal to see himself as most Canadians do — weak, woke and self-centred? He won’t let voters decide which for more than another year.

Have you ever heard of Postmedia derangement syndrome? The garbage you guys publish should be in the National Enquirer! Thank goodness for your sane and professional sports writers. The rest — especially your syndicated American columnists — are absolute trash!
