A key A-road junction on the outskirts of Bristol will close at night from today (Monday, October 28) as a mini roundabout is improved. The roundabout linking the A4175 Barry Road and High Street to West Street, in Oldland Common, will close for the rest of this week at night.

As well as the roundabout closing, the approaches to the junction on Barry Road, High Street and West Street will also close whilst the work is carried out. Emergency access will be maintained at all times according to One.Network.

Barry Road will close from the roundabout to School Road and West Street will close from the roundabout to Court Road. High Street will close from the connecting junction to North Street.

The closure will be implemented at 8pm each night until 6am the following morning. The roadworks are expected to end in the morning on Saturday, November 2.

The reason for the roadworks on One.Network is listed as: “Refresh of lining on roundabout and approaches.” Diversions will be in place for each of the main approaches, forming a circular route through the likes of North Common, Warmley, Longwell Green and Cadbury Heath.

Starting north on High Street, the circular diversion follows the A4175 through North Common, onto Bath Road and the A420 London Road where drivers will join the A4174 heading southbound. The diversion will then take drivers onto Marsham Way and onto the A431 Bath Road, following the A-road onto Cherry Garden Road and onto Barry Road.

The circular route, which is six miles in length, can be followed in the reverse direction additionally. For West Street, drivers can use Tower Road North in Warmley, joining Tower Road South, onto Cowhorn Hill and then West Street.
