A young man from Bristol has been handed a driving ban and must carry out 25 days of unpaid work after losing control of his BMW while performing ‘doughnuts’ at a car meet. Milosz Sobiechowski, 22, of Selley Walk, Bishopsworth, was filmed spinning around in circles with another car in front of spectators before the collision.

Video footage reveals the moment Sobiechowski spirals into a crash with parked cars and injures a bystander who sustained minor injuries. Appearing at Swindon Crown Court on October 18, the Bristol man was slapped with a 12-month driving ban and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work within the next year. He must also pay a £114 victim surcharge.

Wiltshire Police rushed to the Hawksworth Industrial Estate, in Swindon, following reports of a collision involving Sobiechowski’s red BMW at a car meet on September 30 last year around 10.55pm. The vehicle, which crashed into other parked cars, was subsequently found to have various dangerous flaws and had been modified, which resulted in it being deemed unroadworthy.

PC Beales, Roads Policing Officer, condemned the incident: “Sobiechowski’s actions were incredibly dangerous and it is fortunate that there were no serious injuries.

“It is incidents like these that led us to set up Operation Staysail, the force response to car meets, around two years ago, as they endanger the public and can cause a significant amount of disruption to local residents.

“On this occasion, Sobiechowski put a number of people in danger and he has now been disqualified from driving. As we have said previously, we recognise that genuine car enthusiasts meet lawfully and do so in a manner that doesn’t cause distress to local residents.

“We will continue to target those who break the law, however, and ensure they are robustly dealt with and put before the courts.
