Ange Postecoglou has revealed what he ‘hated’ the most about Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Spurs have been stop-start in the first few months of the new campaign with Postecoglou’s side unable to put a run of results together.

The Europa League has been a plus point for Spurs as they’ve managed to pick up three wins from three and a 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar gave them some momentum heading into their game against Palace.

But Tottenham lacked any real creativity at Selhurst Park with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s goal enough to separate the two sides.

It’s the first time Palace have won a match in the Premier League this campaign having previously been in the drop zone.

Postecoglou felt his side should have been more aware of how ‘desperate’ Palace were going to be in front of their home supporters.

But his biggest frustration was seeing a bunch of Tottenham players standing still at points in the match.

“It was a big game for Palace they were always going to be desperate to get a win and that happens,” he said.

“I just thought there was a lot of standing around today which I hate, I’ve said that before.

“But I guess it’s just the nature of the way the game went.”

Postecoglou also felt his side should have made more out of the few chances they created in the match.

“What I want to try to do is get people to adjust to playing our game,” he added.

“Some of it is out of our control because they’re obviously going to be pretty aggressive in their approach, which is not a surprise.

“And how the referee deals with that, not so much in terms of the challenges but in terms of stoppages and taking their time, all of that is out of our control.

“But I just felt when we had control of things, we could have dealt with it better.

“We ended up doing silly things, giving away silly fouls and losing our composure, which just adds to that sort of game when you can’t get any traction.

“So I think we directed our frustration in the wrong way rather than dealing with like we should have.”

Tottenham are back in action on Wednesday evening in the EFL Cup against Manchester City.
