Two women were arrested outside of Toronto Police headquarters during a protest where officers were allegedly assaulted on Friday.

Toronto Police say officers were on hand as a group of people demonstrated in the area of College and Bay Sts.

Officers formed a line in the curb lane with their bicycles to stop demonstrators from entering the roadway.

“One of the demonstrators attempted to push past the officers to enter the roadway,” police alleged said in a statement released Saturday. “The woman refused to listen to police direction and proceeded to punch one of the officers.”

“The woman then forcibly pushed a second officer,” police claim.

While attempting to arrest the woman, police allege a second woman pushed officers in an attempt to intervene.

“Both women were subsequently placed under arrest,” police said.

Dina Laurie Kayseas, 49, of Toronto, is charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer.

Mahnoor Mohyuddin, 24, of Milton, is charged with obstructing a police officer.
