Strictly Come Dancing fans were decidedly underwhelmed mere moments into the live show, airing their grievances concerning the programme’s revamped format.

Saturday (October 26) saw the hit BBC contest make a dramatic return to our screens with plenty of suspense in the air, as the remaining celebrity contestants vied for survival in the much-loved show.

This weeks episode saw contestants and their professional partners pulling out all the stops to impress with their Halloween-themed performances and costumes. TOWIE’s Pete Wicks took on the guise of The Joker, dancing alongside partner Jowita Przysta dressed as Harley Quinn.

On the other side, EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas channelled Wednesday and Pugsley Addams with convincing transformations.

The judging panel was similarly invested in the holiday spirit, with Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke appearing as the spooky twins from the Shining, Motsi Mabuse channelling Cruella de Vil, and Shirley Ballas embodying Winifred Sanderson, reports the Mirror.

Yet despite the razzle-dazzle of the evening, dismayed viewers couldn’t help but critique the show right from the start, taking quickly to social media to voice their disapproval of the show’s introductory segment the platform formerly known as Twitter was abuzz with critiques.

A clearly frustrated fan stated: “Can they please stop doing these stupid intros. They’re beyond embarrassing for all involved #Strictly.”

One viewer expressed clear frustration, stating: “Please please please stop with Tess and Claudia just standing there.”

Another chimed in with disdain: “I still despise the opening to the show.”

Echoing the sentiment, yet another viewer remarked: “Why do they have to do the acting stuff at the start now! It’s so boring.”
